Varkiza Long Distance race is the most popular windsurfing race in Greece. Competitors are windsurfers of all levels and categories which means slalom, formula, raceboards and freerides, ages from 13 years. Being the official photographer of this two days’ windsurfing event, I had the chance to capture riders close ups during the races as well as preparation portraits. But the highlight of the race was for sure day 1’s beach start. One hundred and twenty competitors were starting from Varkiza’s sand beach, just after a 4-wheeled motorcycle was passing in front of them.
